Telangana Minister Urges Residents to Plant and Protect Trees
Minister Konda Surekha asked people to plant and care for trees.
She said planting a tree is not enough because trees must also be protected.
Officials in Telangana were asked to continue planting while the rains are available.
The campaign may continue through September and into early October.
Every home, school and office was encouraged to plant trees.
Warangal has planned to plant 25 lakh saplings and has already planted 13 lakh.
Students can make seed balls that may grow when rain arrives.
Trees can provide shade, oxygen and support rainfall.
Protecting trees can help the environment and future generations.
Minister Konda Surekha urged citizens to plant, nurture and protect trees across Telangana.
Tree-planting drives will continue through September and possibly into the first week of October.
Officials were told to immediately plant at least 10 percent of their assigned targets.
