Extreme Himalayan rainfall driven by climate change, human factors: Govt

The government said that very heavy rain is happening more often and more strongly in the Himalayas because of climate change.

Climate change is when the Earth gets warmer because of things people do.

This heavy rain can cause floods, landslides and other dangerous events.

People's own actions, like building things in unsafe places, can also make the danger worse.

To understand this better, the government created a special team of experts.

The team includes scientists who study weather, buildings and mountains.

They are looking at a state in India called Himachal Pradesh, where such disasters happen often.

The government also said that melting snow can release lots of water, making floods worse.

Loose rocks and soil near glaciers, called moraines, can also become unstable and slide down.

The team will suggest long-term ways to keep people safe from these disasters.
