L Catterton Appoints Unilever Veteran to Lead India Push
A big investment company called L Catterton, which is supported by the luxury brand LVMH, is making a big move in India.
They hired Vikram Kumaraswamy, who used to work at Unilever, to help lead their efforts in the country.
L Catterton also started a $600 million fund just for India to invest in things like food, healthcare, and stores.
This is because India's economy and the amount of money people are spending there has been rapidly growing over the last decade.
This new fund will focus on medium sized businesses with investment between $25 million and $150 million.
L Catterton, backed by LVMH, appointed Vikram Kumaraswamy to co-lead its India business.
Kumaraswamy, a former Unilever executive, brings nearly three decades of global experience.
L Catterton launched a $600 million India-specific fund in May.
The fund will target mid-market deals in consumer categories like food and beverage.
India's private consumption has nearly doubled in the last decade.
