IIT BHU Revamps BTech Curriculum with New Pathways
IIT BHU is changing how its students in tech programs learn.
Starting in 2025, students can choose different paths: a regular degree, specialize more in their field, study a bit of another subject, take a second major, or combine their degree with a masters.
They can even leave the program early with a certificate.
They're also adding new courses and programs to help students learn more about different areas.
This is all to help students learn in more flexible and useful ways to get ready for their jobs after school.
IIT BHU is updating its BTech curriculum, starting in the 2025-26 academic year, to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Students will have five academic pathways from the fourth semester, including Regular BTech, BTech (Honours), and options with minors or second majors.
Students can earn a Minor by taking 4-6 courses in another discipline, or a Second Major by completing a 10-semester curriculum in a second discipline.
A Multiple Exit Framework is introduced, allowing students to leave with certificates after one, two, or three years based on earned credits.
The institute is also launching new programs and courses, including an M.Tech in Medical Devices and AI-focused courses.
