Amazon Cuts Fewer Than 1,000 Jobs After 30,000

Amazon has made another round of job cuts.

Fewer than 1,000 corporate workers were affected this time, mostly in its Stores business.

The cuts include workers in the United States, India and the United Kingdom.

Amazon says it wants to organize the business to better fit its priorities.

These cuts come after about 30,000 jobs were eliminated in earlier rounds.

Jeff Bezos said the company had hired too many people during the pandemic shopping boom.

Amazon is also using AI tools to help with some routine work.

At the same time, it is reaching out to some former workers about possible jobs, especially in AI-related areas.
