Denmark Plans to Extend Burqa, Niqab Ban to Schools
Denmark already has a rule that doesn't allow people to cover their faces completely in public places.
Now, they want to add schools and universities to this rule.
The government says they want everyone to be able to see each other's faces in these places.
They think this will help people who wear face coverings, like the burqa or niqab, to feel more like part of Danish society.
Some people agree with this idea, but others might not.
The new rule is supposed to be talked about in the government in 2026.
Denmark plans to extend its ban on full-face veils to schools and universities.
The current ban on face coverings in public spaces has been in effect since 2018.
The bill to extend the ban is scheduled to be presented in February 2026.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen cited concerns about social control and oppression as reasons for the extension.
Supporters argue the ban promotes better integration of Muslim immigrants into Danish society.
