Doctors Treat Rare Brain Disorder in 1.7-kg Baby

Doctors in Visakhapatnam successfully treated a very small baby, weighing just 1.7 kg, for a rare brain condition called Vein of Galen Malformation (VoGM).

This condition causes abnormal blood flow in the brain, which can be very dangerous if not treated.

The baby was born early and taken to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Doctors used a special procedure to fix the blood vessels in the baby's brain.

The baby is now doing better and is being closely watched.

This is one of the first times such a procedure has been successful on a baby this small in the region.
