PDS Rice Diversion via GPS Tampering
Some people are finding new ways to steal rice meant for poor people.
They are tricking the system by changing the GPS tracking on trucks that carry the rice.
They also make fake papers to show the rice was not stolen.
The police caught some of these people and found a lot of rice that was supposed to be given to poor people but was instead being sold secretly.
The people who did this were promising money to other officials to help them.
The police are trying to stop this from happening.
Culprits are tampering with GPS tracking systems of PDS trucks to divert rice into black markets.
Vigilance teams intercepted 400 quintals of rice in the first week of the month.
A motorcycle was found carrying falsified truck chits, leading to the discovery of a lorry transporting 300 quintals of rice worth Rs 17.22 lakh.
The MLS point in-charge and the DEO were promised bribes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively for each lorry.
