Karnataka to Consider Milk Procurement Price Hike After Farmer Talks

Karnataka to Consider Milk Procurement Price Hike After Farmer Talks

Dairy farmers in Karnataka want to be paid more for the milk they provide.

They say animal feed has become more expensive and grass is harder to find.

They are asking for an increase of about Rs 8-9 per litre.

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said Tamil Nadu has already raised its price by Rs 9-10.

He said some farmers are sending milk to neighboring states or private companies because they can receive better prices there.

Milk production in Karnataka has also fallen.

Milk societies are reportedly losing Rs 6-7 per litre.

The government will discuss the issue before making a decision.
