Man Dies By Suicide After Daughter's Torture
A man named Lambodar Tarai died by suicide after his daughter, Lakshmipriya, was hurt and humiliated by villagers in Odisha.
The villagers accused her of selling alcohol, which was not allowed in the village.
They took her to the village square, hurt her, and made her pay a fine.
They also used bad words to hurt her feelings.
Lambodar couldn't stand seeing his daughter treated this way, so he took his own life.
The police are now investigating what happened and have arrested one person.
Lambodar Tarai (55) died by suicide after his daughter, Lakshmipriya, was assaulted and publicly humiliated by villagers in Odisha's Bhadrak district.
The incident occurred on Sunday in Chaddia, Chandabali block, under Bansada police station limits.
Villagers accused Lakshmipriya of selling illicit liquor, which was prohibited in the village, and subjected her to physical and mental torture.
A 'kangaroo court' imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on Lakshmipriya, and she reportedly paid Rs 10,000.
Lambodar consumed poison after being unable to bear the harassment and humiliation of his daughter, and was declared dead at Chandbali hospital.
