Thane Ring Metro Plans 29-Kilometre Regional Transit Corridor

A new metro project is being planned for Thane.

It will make a large loop around the city.

The route will be 29 kilometres long and have 22 stations.

Most of the track will be above the ground, but a small part will be underground.

The metro will connect to other lines going toward Mumbai, Bhiwandi, and Kalyan.

This could give people another way to travel instead of using busy roads.

The project was approved by the Central Government in September 2024.

Some local people and groups have objected to it.

Maha Metro says it is sharing information and talking with residents about their concerns.
