Haryana Faces DGP Post Decision
The Haryana government needs to decide about the Director General of Police (DGP) post.
The current DGP, O P Singh, is retiring soon.
Before he leaves, they need to choose a new DGP.
They sent a list of possible officers to the UPSC, but the UPSC sent it back.
The UPSC said the position isn't really empty because the previous DGP, Shatrujeet S Kapur, is just on leave.
So, they need to send the list again in a different way.
Mr. Kapur went on leave after his name came up in a sad case about another police officer.
He can't come back to his job until the new DGP is chosen.
Haryana government must decide on DGP post as O P Singh retires on December 31.
UPSC returned the panel of eligible officers, citing a Supreme Court judgment on police reforms.
DGP post cannot be considered vacant as Shatrujeet S Kapur is on leave until December 14.
Kapur went on leave after his name surfaced in the alleged suicide case of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar.
State government needs to send a new proposal to the UPSC in anticipation of the vacancy.
