J&K HC seeks replies on over-aged sports officials
The High Court of J&K and Ladakh is upset because some sports groups in Jammu and Kashmir are being run by people who are too old or not qualified.
These people are also sometimes politicians or government workers who haven't gotten permission to hold these positions.
The court gave these groups and the government a chance to explain themselves, but they didn't respond on time.
The court is now giving them one last chance to explain before taking action.
The court is concerned because these groups are not following the rules meant to keep sports fair and organized.
The High Court of J&K and Ladakh expressed concern over over-aged and ineligible office bearers running sports associations in J&K.
The court noted the casual approach of the government and sports associations in implementing the National Sports Code.
A PIL filed by former badminton players alleges violation of the National Sports Code and J&K Sports Council guidelines.
The court granted a last opportunity to the respondents to file a response, warning of appropriate orders if they fail to comply.
Some office bearers are politicians or government officers without obtaining the necessary NOC from the government.
