Senegal backs Sall for UN chief

Senegal's current president, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has decided to support his predecessor, Macky Sall, in becoming the next United Nations secretary-general.

This is a big deal because Faye's government has often criticized Sall's time in office.

Sall is one of five people trying to replace the current UN chief, Antonio Guterres, whose term ends at the end of this year.

Burundi, which is currently leading the African Union, suggested Sall for the job.

Even though there have been some problems between Faye and Sall, Faye has asked his government to help Sall win the position.

This shows that, despite their differences, they can work together on important international matters.
