Red Alert Issued For Sikkim Amid Heavy Snowfall Near Indo-China Border
Imagine the mountains near the border of India and China got a lot of snow, like a winter wonderland, but it made things tricky!
The weather experts gave a big warning, called a red alert, for the area called Sikkim because the snow is so heavy and cold.
Roads are becoming slippery, making it hard for people and cars to travel.
The people who build and fix roads are working hard to clear the snow.
Meanwhile, a different group, the National Biodiversity Authority, sent money to local groups in Sikkim and another place called Uttar Pradesh.
This money helps them protect plants and animals and use nature's resources wisely, like a reward for taking good care of them.
Heavy snowfall occurred at higher reaches of the Indo-China border, including Sikkim's Nathula Pass, on Friday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Sikkim due to severe weather conditions.
Temperatures dropped to sub-zero levels, causing disruptions to travel on mountain routes.
The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) released Rs 8.3 lakh to Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) in Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim.
These funds are part of the Access and Benefit Sharing framework to support biodiversity conservation and resource management.
