Modi Government's Infrastructure and Capital Expenditure Updates
The Modi government in India has been monitoring and driving major infrastructure projects through the PRAGATI platform.
As of December 31, 2025, 43 out of 53 projects worth Rs 3.02 lakh crore have been completed, with 10 projects still under construction.
The PRAGATI platform, launched in 2015, helps in breaking bureaucratic inertia and ensuring timely completion of projects.
Additionally, capital expenditure by Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and government organisations has reached 74% of the target for the fiscal year, with a significant increase in spending by infrastructure ministries.
The government's focus on capital expenditure aims to boost growth and employment, especially as private sector investment has declined.
43 out of 53 infrastructure projects worth Rs 3.02 lakh crore have been commissioned under the PRAGATI platform as of December 31, 2025.
10 projects worth Rs 1.10 lakh crore are still under construction, with overall 237 power projects worth Rs 10.53 lakh crore reviewed under the PRAGATI ecosystem.
Capital expenditure by 60 CPSEs and four government organisations reached 74% of the target, with ₹5.77 lakh crore spent during April-December.
December 2025 saw the highest expenditure in three months, with ₹72,000 crore spent, and some entities exceeding their annual targets.
