Five-Year-Old Nepal Flood Survivor Rescued After 60 Hours
A five-year-old girl named Manisha was caught in severe floods in Nepal.
She was swept away when her home disappeared.
Her parents thought she had died.
Rescuers later heard a tiny sound beneath some collapsed buildings.
They dug for two hours and found her alive.
She had survived for almost 60 hours in a small pocket of air.
After receiving water and rice water, she was flown to a hospital in Kathmandu.
She was reunited with her parents on August 30 and was in stable condition.
Five-year-old Manisha was found alive under rubble near Syabrubesi after nearly 60 hours.
Rescuers heard a faint sound, initially believed to be a cat, and dug manually for two hours.
Bad weather delayed her helicopter evacuation; she was taken to a rescue camp for initial care.
Manisha was later airlifted to a paediatric emergency department in Kathmandu and reunited with her parents on August 30.
Her father said the family had believed she was dead after their home disappeared within seconds of the flood.
