FPIs Withdraw Rs 17,955 Crore from Indian Equities in December 2025
In the first two weeks of December 2025, foreign investors took out ₹17,955 crore from Indian stocks, making the total withdrawal for the year ₹1.6 lakh crore.
This happened because the Indian rupee is getting weaker, and some investors think Indian stocks are too expensive.
However, local investors put in ₹39,965 crore during the same time, which balanced out the foreign withdrawals.
Experts think that foreign investors might stop selling so much because India's economy is growing, and there might be a trade deal with the US that could bring back foreign investments.
FPIs withdrew ₹17,955 crore from Indian equities in the first two weeks of December 2025, totaling ₹1.6 lakh crore for the year.
The outflow is attributed to a weaker rupee, rich Indian valuations, and global portfolio rebalancing.
DIIs invested ₹39,965 crore during the same period, offsetting FPI outflows.
Experts predict that FPI selling pressure may ease due to India's strong growth and earnings outlook.
A potential US-India trade deal could trigger a reversal in foreign investment trends.
