Emraan Hashmi Discusses Bollywood's Theatrical Challenges
Emraan Hashmi, a famous Bollywood actor, talked about how it's becoming very hard for movies to do well in theaters.
He said that people only go to watch big event movies and not smaller ones.
This is why he is being very careful about the movies he chooses to act in.
He also mentioned that it's expensive to watch movies in theaters with family, costing over Rs 5,000 for tickets, popcorn, and drinks.
Emraan thinks that filmmakers are now making movies only for the elite and not for the common man.
He hopes his upcoming Netflix series, 'Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web', will help him connect with younger audiences.
The show is about a customs officer and his team fighting a notorious smuggler.
Emraan is excited about this project and believes it is different and novel.
Emraan Hashmi expresses concern about the state of theatrical business, noting that audiences prefer event films over mid-size movies.
He attributes the decline in theatrical success to the short window between theatrical and OTT releases, making it hard for films without hit songs or romance to attract audiences.
Hashmi highlights the high cost of watching movies in theaters, which has made it less accessible for the common man.
He criticizes the industry for catering only to the elite and alienating the common audience, especially since the decline of single-screen theaters.
Hashmi's upcoming Netflix series, 'Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web', is set to premiere on January 14, featuring him as a customs officer.
