India Achieves Ethanol Blending Target Years Early
India has reached its goal of mixing 20% ethanol with petrol much earlier than planned.
This means more fuel is being made from plants instead of just from oil.
The change started in 2014.
Now, India's already blended a lot more ethanol, which has helped the environment by lowering pollution and helped the economy.
Farmers and businesses that make ethanol have earned a lot of money, and India has spent less money on importing fuel.
India achieved its 20% ethanol blending target five years ahead of schedule.
The milestone was announced by the Indian Sugar & Bio-energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA).
Ethanol production increased from 38 crore litres in 2014 to 661 crore litres by June 2025.
The program has reduced CO2 emissions by 698 lakh tonnes.
Farmers earned Rs 1.18 lakh crore, and distilleries earned Rs 1.96 lakh crore since the program began.
