Viral Coke-Mentos Explosion Video Sparks Widespread AI-Generated Claims Online
A strange video shows Coke and Mentos appearing to cause a huge explosion.
A man in the video seems to fly into the sky afterward.
Many people online think the event did not really happen.
They noticed that the Mentos truck is spelled "mentes" in one part of the clip.
The video was shared on X and received about 36.1 million views at the time of writing.
TechHalla was reportedly the creator of the original video.
The creator said artificial-intelligence tools were used to make the still pictures and animation.
This means the video was made to look like real footage, even though it appears to be digitally created.
The video shows a Coca-Cola truck leaking onto a road beside a Mentos truck.
A man appears to collect the spilled drink before removing Mentos crates from the truck.
A large cloud of smoke and foam seemingly launches the man into the air.
Social media users questioned the video's authenticity and noticed the truck says "mentes" instead of "Mentos."
The clip reportedly used GPT Image 2.5 for still images and Seedance 2.5 for animation.
