PM Modi Praises Lovlina Borgohain for Distorted India Map Objection
A boxer named Lovlina Borgohain went to a restaurant in Glasgow with her teammates to celebrate their success at a big sports event called the Commonwealth Games.
While she was eating, she noticed that a map of India on the restaurant's menu was wrong.
It showed part of her country, the Northeast, separated from the rest.
She did not get angry.
She politely asked the people at the restaurant to fix it, and they did.
A video of the moment spread on the internet.
India's leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw it and praised Lovlina during a meeting with the medal winners.
He joked with her about the incident and said what she did was thoughtful.
He said people would remember the video for a very long time.
The restaurant also said sorry and promised to change its logo.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded boxer Lovlina Borgohain for objecting to a distorted map of India at a Glasgow restaurant.
The map on the menu at Mister Singh's India showed India's Northeast separated from the rest of the country.
Borgohain said she politely asked the restaurant to make changes and that they complied.
The incident occurred during a celebratory dinner after India won 10 boxing medals, including a record seven gold, at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
Reports differ on her medal — most say silver in the 75kg category, others say gold; the restaurant issued an 'unequivocal' apology and said it would change its logo.
