US Homeland Security Faces Backlash for Using Artist's Work Without Consent
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is in trouble because they used a picture made by a Japanese artist named Hiroshi Nagai to talk about deporting people from the US.
The artist said they didn't give permission for DHS to use his picture.
The picture showed a nice, empty beach, and DHS wrote a message about America after deporting many people.
The artist is known for his pretty pictures of cities and beaches.
DHS said they will keep using pictures to talk about their work.
This isn't the first time DHS has used artists' work without asking.
They also used a picture by another artist, Thomas Kinkade, and got in trouble for that too.
Even some pop stars, like Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter, complained because DHS used their songs in videos about deporting people.
The stars said they didn't want their music used for that.
US DHS used Japanese artist Hiroshi Nagai's artwork without permission to promote deportations.
Nagai's artwork depicts serene landscapes and is inspired by 1950s Americana.
DHS posted the image on New Year's Eve with a message about America after 100 million deportations.
This is not the first time DHS has used artists' work without consent; they previously used Thomas Kinkade's artwork.
Pop stars Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter also criticized DHS for using their songs in deportation promotion videos.
