Telangana Assembly Clash Escalates Over Alleged Remarks Against Speaker

The Telangana Assembly began its monsoon meeting with arguments and protests.

The House was paused for 15 minutes after opposition members disrupted proceedings.

Congress members accused a BRS lawmaker of insulting Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and his family.

They said the alleged comments also harmed the dignity of the Assembly.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy asked former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to apologize.

He also demanded that the accused lawmaker resign and be expelled.

BJP lawmakers raised a separate concern about private land being put on a list that can stop registrations and other transactions.

Outside the Assembly, BRS leaders were detained while wearing black shirts to protest the Congress government.

The BRS said the government was trying to suppress the Opposition, but the reports do not provide the accused MLC’s response to the allegations.
