AI Traffic System in Visakhapatnam Logs Thousands of Violations
Imagine a smart system called SARTHI using AI to watch the roads.
This system, tested in Visakhapatnam, uses cameras to spot when people break traffic rules, like not wearing helmets or speeding.
It automatically sends tickets to those who violate the rules.
This AI system also includes smart traffic lights that adjust to the traffic, which can help reduce waiting times and pollution.
After a test run, the best version of the system will be used in more places across the city.
The goal is to make roads safer and traffic flow smoother.
An AI traffic management system called SARTHI has been piloted in Visakhapatnam.
The system detected over 9,000 traffic violations during its initial run.
Violations include driving without helmets, seat belt issues, red light jumping, speeding, wrong parking, and wrong-way driving.
The system uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition, Red Light Violation Detection, and Facial Recognition Systems.
The GVMC plans to select the top-performing AI model for broader implementation after a one-month trial.
