In Indore, the city's top official, Kshitij Singhal, went on a surprise check early on Sunday.

He found garbage on the roads in the Machhi Bazaar area and punished two cleanliness inspectors by cutting their pay for one day.

He also told other bosses that if the area isn't cleaned up soon, they could face bigger trouble.

Later, he checked on a big road being built near a hotel and a forest.

This road is 2.4 kilometers long and costs a lot of money to build.

He told the workers to hurry up but also to make sure it's done well.
