India's Forex Reserves Drop for Second Straight Week
India's 'piggy bank' of foreign money, called forex reserves, decreased by over a billion dollars this week, the second drop in a row.
This is mostly because the value of foreign currencies in the reserves changed.
However, the amount of gold in the reserves went up a bit.
Overall, the total amount of money in the reserve changes slightly.
India's forex reserves decreased by $1.18 billion to $695.49 billion for the week ending July 18.
This marks the second consecutive week of decline in the forex reserves.
Foreign currency assets, a major component, dropped by $1.20 billion.
Gold reserves increased by $150 million during the same week.
The Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) and reserve position with the IMF also decreased.
