Nepotism in Rajasthan Congress District President Appointments
The Congress party in Rajasthan recently appointed new leaders for its local committees.
They wanted to choose new and fair leaders by asking regular party members for their opinions.
However, many of the chosen leaders are from political families or were already important leaders in the party.
This has made some party workers unhappy because they were hoping for more new faces.
The party's top leader in Rajasthan said that the central leadership, not the state, made these choices.
15 of 45 newly appointed district presidents in Rajasthan Congress are from political families.
12 sitting and 5 former MLAs have been appointed as district presidents.
Notable appointees include Raghuveer Meena for Udaipur and Vikas Chaudhary for Ajmer.
The Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, launched by Rahul Gandhi, aimed to strengthen grassroots organization but faced criticism for lack of new faces.
Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara stated that the high command, not the state, is responsible for the selections.
