VHP Urges Caste-Free, Horoscope-Free Weddings to Raise Hindu Births

VHP Urges Caste-Free, Horoscope-Free Weddings to Raise Hindu Births

The Vishva Hindu Parishad, or VHP, is a Hindu organization in Keralam.

It is worried that fewer Hindu babies are being born.

The group says some young people marry later because of caste rules and horoscope matching.

It wants families to accept marriages across caste lines.

It also wants couples to marry without checking whether their horoscopes match.

The VHP discussed this plan at a meeting in Kochi.

Government figures recorded 344,766 births in Keralam in 2024.

Of these, 135,753 were to Hindu mothers.

The article does not say whether the VHP’s proposed changes will increase the birth rate.
