Kashmiris Arrested in Decades-Old Cases Spark Anxiety
In Kashmir, many people are being arrested for old cases, which is making people worried.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a important religious leader, asked the government to stop these arrests.
He also said that many Kashmiris are in jails far away, which makes it hard for their families to visit them.
Another leader, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, was upset because a politician named Mehraj Malik was taken to the hospital in handcuffs.
People think this was not right.
Tarigami wants the government to say sorry for this and bring the prisoners back to Kashmir.
Mirwaiz also wants the government to look at these old cases again and be kinder to the people involved.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed concern over arrests of Kashmiris in decades-old cases, causing anxiety and uncertainty.
Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami criticized the handcuffing of detained AAP MLA Mehraj Malik and demanded an apology from authorities.
Malik has been in custody under the Public Safety Act (PSA) since September, with a final hearing scheduled for December 18.
Mirwaiz highlighted the suffering of Kashmiri prisoners in jails outside Jammu and Kashmir, calling for their transfer back.
Tarigami and Mirwaiz urged the government to intervene, review old cases, and ensure a fairer and more compassionate justice process.
