Xi’s Potential India Visit Tests Fragile China-India Reset

China’s leader, Xi Jinping, may visit India for an important BRICS meeting in 2026.

China has not officially confirmed the visit yet.

India and China have had serious tensions since soldiers clashed along their disputed border in 2020.

More recently, the two countries have taken steps to reduce those tensions.

They are discussing flights, visas, border trade and important supplies from China.

India still worries about its security and does not consider China a trusted partner.

However, India also needs some Chinese products for its factories and infrastructure.

The possible visit would show that the two countries are trying to manage their disagreements instead of allowing them to become another crisis.

India also wants to keep good relations with the United States without joining a confrontation between Washington and Beijing.
