NSDL Building Platform to Simplify Bond Sales
India's biggest depository, NSDL, is creating a new platform to make it easier and faster for regular people to sell bonds.
Right now, selling bonds is a slow and complicated process that involves a lot of paperwork and can take up to a week.
NSDL is working on technology that will check and block bonds instantly when someone wants to sell them.
This will make sure the seller actually has the bond and will complete the trade.
The goal is to make selling bonds as easy and quick as selling stocks, which will help more people invest in bonds.
NSDL has already started working on this and has launched some tools to help brokers.
They hope to finish the platform by the end of the next financial year.
NSDL is developing a platform to simplify and speed up bond selling for retail investors.
The new technology will allow instant verification and blocking of securities at the time of sale.
Currently, the bond-selling process is tedious, lengthy, and requires paperwork, taking 3-7 days for transfers.
NSDL has launched two APIs to help brokers retrieve client demat details and receive debit mandates.
The initiative aims to reduce the bond-selling cycle and enhance liquidity in the secondary corporate bond market.
