Indian LPG, CNG and PNG Prices Amid Supply Shifts
Indian families and businesses were given prices for three kinds of gas on August 30 and 31.
LPG comes in cylinders, CNG is used by many vehicles, and PNG travels through pipes to homes.
The price of a regular LPG cylinder was different in each city.
CNG was also priced differently, with Hyderabad having the highest listed rate.
Delhi’s CNG price rose by ₹3.89 per kilogram on August 28.
Indraprastha Gas Limited said international gas prices and other costs helped cause the increase.
PNG prices in the listed cities stayed at the rates shown, including ₹49.59 per standard cubic metre in Delhi.
India is also trying to change where it gets gas and oil because supplies through the Middle East have been disrupted.
Domestic 14.2-kilogram LPG prices ranged from ₹939.50 in Noida to ₹994 in Hyderabad on August 30 and 31.
Commercial 19-kilogram LPG prices ranged from ₹2,378 to ₹2,985 on August 30; the August 31 article listed Delhi at ₹2,738.
CNG prices ranged from ₹86 per kilogram in Mumbai to ₹112 in Hyderabad, while Delhi’s rate was ₹86.98.
PNG prices ranged from ₹48.40 per SCM in Gurugram to ₹54.70 in Chandigarh, with Delhi’s rate at ₹49.59.
IGL attributed Delhi’s ₹3.89-per-kilogram CNG increase on August 28 to higher international gas benchmarks and input costs as India shifted some LPG and LNG sourcing toward the United States.

Reasons for higher CNG prices
Supply concerns and higher costs
Consumers face higher Delhi CNG prices, with the August 31 article saying the cumulative rise this year was nearly ₹10 per kilogram.
Government and industry responses
Indraprastha Gas Limited said the increase followed higher international gas benchmarks and input costs, after prices had remained relatively stable during an earlier phase of the Hormuz crisis.
Energy supply strategy
Supply concerns and higher costs
Disruption in West Asia and the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz reduced LPG supplies from Gulf producers, creating uncertainty around India’s energy imports.
Government and industry responses
India is shifting some LPG and LNG sourcing toward the United States and is promoting domestic PNG connections to reduce subsidy expenditure and diversify supplies.
Reliance on imported fuels
Supply concerns and higher costs
Qatar LPG and LNG supplies, as well as UAE and Saudi LPG supplies, declined sharply in the reported period, limiting some traditional sources.
Government and industry responses
The United States supplied more LPG and LNG, while Russia remained India’s largest crude supplier and Venezuelan crude contributed to supply diversification.
