India Urges Stronger Textile Recovery Frameworks for Climate Commitments

Union Minister Giriraj Singh visited a textile recycling facility in Navi Mumbai.

The facility handles old textiles and factory textile waste.

It sorts materials, identifies fibres, shreds them, and recovers useful materials.

These activities can help keep textile waste out of landfills.

Singh said India needs strong systems for recovering and recycling textiles.

He also said recycling can reduce the use of natural resources.

The project may be expanded beyond the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation region.

The Textiles Committee and Refibre also agreed to create a digital platform to track textile collection and recycling impacts.
