Yogi Announces Silk Cluster Plans, Urges Women’s Carpet Industry Participation

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met people from the carpet industry at the India Carpet Expo.

He said three places—Sant Ravidas Nagar, Mirzapur and Varanasi—would be developed as a silk cluster.

He also said a regional development plan would be implemented soon.

Carpet businesses asked for a policy designed for their industry.

They said carpet-making takes a long time and has different needs from other manufacturing.

Some also said the ODOP scheme had helped their businesses.

Women are part of the industry, but entrepreneurs said they need more representation in its council.

Adityanath asked the council to include women and reserve seats for them.

He said the government would consider the issues raised.
