India to Acquire QRSAM Systems to Enhance Air Defense
India is upgrading its air defense with the QRSAM missile system, a new weapon designed to protect ground forces from enemy aircraft and missiles.
This system, costing around Rs 30,000 crore, can be launched from mobile platforms, allowing them to move along with tanks and soldiers.
QRSAM can hit multiple targets at once and complements existing systems like Akash and S-400.
This move follows the success of Operation Sindoor, which demonstrated the effectiveness of India's air defense capabilities.
The new system has high mobility and short-range capabilities which are crucial for the front lines along the border.
India is acquiring Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) systems to boost air defense.
The Defence Ministry is expected to authorize the Rs 30,000 crore purchase of QRSAM systems.
QRSAM systems are designed for high mobility and can engage multiple aerial targets.
The QRSAM will supplement existing air defense, including Akash and S-400 systems.
Operation Sindoor highlighted the importance of robust air defense.
