Supreme Court Signals Possible CBI Probe Into I-PAC Raid

Supreme Court Signals Possible CBI Probe Into I-PAC Raid

The Supreme Court is considering whether the Central Bureau of Investigation should examine an incident involving an I-PAC office raid.

The Enforcement Directorate was conducting the raid in January.

Mamata Banerjee was accused of entering the office during the operation.

Her lawyer did not agree that the case should immediately go to the CBI.

The lawyer suggested that the West Bengal government could investigate it instead.

The Enforcement Directorate asked the court for more time to make arguments.

The court therefore postponed the hearing until September 2.

Earlier, the court said that obstructing a central investigation could threaten democracy.

No final decision on a CBI probe has yet been reported.
