Shunya Bridge on Mumbai Metro Line 2B Nears Completion
The Shunya Bridge on Mumbai's Metro Line 2B is almost done.
It's a special bridge shaped like a zero, which is a tribute to an ancient Indian mathematician.
The bridge is very big and strong, made with lots of steel and careful welding.
It will help people travel across Mumbai more easily.
The bridge is also a symbol of the city's modern and innovative spirit.
Soon, the metro stations near the bridge will be ready for people to use.
The Shunya Bridge on Mumbai's Metro Line 2B has reached a major construction milestone with the completion of its final pylon, giving it a distinctive zero-shaped form.
The bridge spans 130 metres with an 80-metre main span over the Vakola Nalla, supported by a 40-metre-high steel pylon weighing 750 metric tonnes.
The construction involved 5.9 kilometres of intricate on-site welding and the use of heavy-duty cranes to lift the final crown element into place.
The bridge is designed to enhance east–west connectivity in Mumbai and serves as a tribute to ancient Indian mathematician Aryabhata.
The five stations along Metro Line 2B are nearly ready for passenger service and expected to open soon after fulfilling safety obligations.
