Delhi High Court Summons in Kapur Family Trust Dispute
Rani Kapur, the matriarch of the Kapur family, has asked the Delhi High Court to cancel a family trust that controls a big part of the Sona Group, a company that makes car parts.
She says the trust was made in a dishonest way to take her assets and control away.
The court has asked other family members, including Priya Kapur (the wife of the late Sunjay Kapur) and their children, to respond to this request.
The court will hear more about this in April.
Rani Kapur also says she was tricked into signing papers that were later used to move her assets into the trust without her knowing.
This is part of a bigger fight over who gets to control the family's business and money, which is worth a lot.
Delhi High Court issued summons to Priya Kapur and 23 others in a plea by Rani Kapur to cancel the Rani Kapur Family Trust.
Rani Kapur alleges the trust was fraudulently created to strip her of assets and control over the Sona Group.
The court declined to grant any interim relief that could affect the trust's functioning and listed the case for further hearing in April.
Rani Kapur claims she was coerced into signing documents after suffering a stroke in 2017, which were later misused to transfer her assets.
The dispute is part of a wider succession battle over Sunjay Kapur’s estimated ₹30,000-crore estate.
