Mizuho and MUFG Expand in India
Two big Japanese banks, Mizuho and MUFG, are making large investments in India.
Mizuho is buying a big part of Avendus, an Indian investment bank, for $523 million.
MUFG is buying a 20% stake in Shriram Finance, a large Indian finance company, for over $4 billion.
These deals show that Japanese banks are interested in India because it's growing fast.
India has many people who need loans, and Japanese banks want to be part of that growth.
Earlier, another Japanese bank, Sumitomo Mitsui, also bought a part of Yes Bank, another Indian bank.
Mizuho Securities to acquire 61.6% to 78.3% of Avendus from KKR for $523 million.
Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) to acquire around 20% stake in Shriram Finance for over $4 billion.
Both deals aim to expand Japanese banks' presence in India's growing economy.
Mizuho expects to strengthen cross-regional collaboration, including with Greenhill.
Shriram Finance is one of India's largest retail-focused non-banking financial companies with assets under management of Rs 2.8 trillion.
