Rupee Rises 5 Paise Against US Dollar
The rupee, which is the currency of India, went up a little bit against the US dollar.
This happened because the Reserve Bank of India might have stepped in to help, and the US dollar was a bit weaker.
However, there are still worries about the price of oil going up because of tensions in the Middle East.
Some people who study the market think the rupee might go down a bit more, but the Reserve Bank's help might stop it from falling too much.
The stock market in India also went down a bit, and foreign investors took out some money.
The rupee rose 5 paise to 96.48 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday.
Possible intervention by the Reserve Bank of India and a weaker greenback provided some respite.
Heightened tensions in West Asia maintained pressure on global crude oil prices.
FII outflows and sustained negative sentiments in the domestic equity markets added pressure on the local unit.
The rupee is expected to move in the range of 96.50-96.65 with risk tilted to the downside.
