Uganda detains opposition supporters amid election violence

In Uganda, a lawmaker named Muwanga Kivumbi from the opposition party NUP was arrested by the police.

This happened after some violent events related to the recent elections.

The military chief said that authorities had detained 2,000 opposition supporters and killed 30 people.

Kivumbi says that people were killed in his house while waiting for election results.

The opposition leader, Bobi Wine, has been hiding and says that the elections were not fair.

The current president, Yoweri Museveni, won the elections and his son, the military chief, might be planning to take over after him.

Many people from the opposition have been arrested and some say they were hurt.
