Underworld Feud Cancels Kavadi Ritual at Sri Lanka Festival

A big and old festival in Sri Lanka called the Devinuwara Esala Perahera had to cancel an important dance called the Kavadi.

This happened because two groups of bad people who don't like each other were threatening to cause trouble.

The police were worried about safety, so they decided to stop the dance.

The two groups are led by men named Shehan Sathsara and Kanjipani Imran, who are both hiding in other countries.

The festival is usually held to honor a god named Lord Vishnu.

The dance is usually done by people who carry decorated wooden things on their shoulders while dancing to music.

The police also heard about a possible attack using guns or drones, so they made more security rules.
