Madras High Court sets August 27 deadline in election cases

Madras High Court sets August 27 deadline in election cases

Two election petitions are being heard by the Madras High Court.

They question the election victories of C. Joseph Vijay and Aadhav Arjuna.

The petitions concern the Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East constituencies.

The two leaders want the court to dismiss the petitions.

Their lawyers asked for two more weeks to file the necessary applications.

The judge refused to give them that extra time.

He gave both leaders until August 27 instead.

If they miss the deadline, each could be fined Rs 50,000.

The court will review the applications after the deadline and decide what happens next.
