Karnataka Drought Crisis: Opposition Accuses Government of Neglect

A man named R Ashoka, who is part of the opposition party in Karnataka, says the state government is not helping farmers who are suffering from a severe drought.

He says the government has not released money for pensions or farm help, and that the state’s finances are empty.

Ashoka wants the government to declare a drought so farmers can get insurance money, to waive farm loans, and to give money for lost crops.

He also says officials and ministers are ignoring farmers and that many people are leaving the state for work.

Ashoka says the government has spent money on food for protestors and on food delivery services instead of helping farmers.

He warns that if the government does not act, water trucks might exploit the situation.

Ashoka wants the government to set up task forces and give money to local districts to fix water and fodder problems.

He says the government should act quickly or step down.

The opposition is calling for a big change in how the state deals with the drought.
