World Bank Approves $966M for Assam and Bengal Projects
The World Bank has given India a lot of money to help two states, Assam and West Bengal.
For Assam, they gave $680 million for three projects.
One project will build strong roads that can handle bad weather, especially in hilly areas.
This will help about 190,000 people in tribal and rural communities get to places faster.
Another project will improve schools and teach life skills to more than 4 million students.
The third project will help the government manage money better and provide better services to people and businesses.
For West Bengal, they gave $286 million to improve healthcare.
This money will help over 90 million people get better healthcare services, especially for people over 30 years old.
It will also help track diseases like hypertension and diabetes using digital methods.
All these projects will take about 16 to 16.5 years to complete, with the first 3 years being a grace period.
World Bank approved $680 million for three projects in Assam and $286 million for a healthcare project in West Bengal.
Assam projects include climate-resilient roads, improved education, and better governance and service delivery.
West Bengal project aims to enhance healthcare access for over 90 million people, focusing on non-communicable diseases and digital tracking.
All projects have maturity periods of 16 to 16.5 years, including a 3-year grace period.
