Mumbai Residents Raise Late-Night Noise and Traffic Concerns
People from several Mumbai neighbourhoods met in Khar to talk about problems near their homes.
They said loud music and late-night gatherings can make it hard to sleep.
They also described crowded roads, honking and cars blocking entrances.
The residents had planned to walk together, but permission for the walk was not given.
Instead, they stayed at the housing society and discussed the issues.
A senior police officer came to hear their concerns.
Residents said he would work toward a group for coordination and a meeting with civic and traffic officials.
They said they want businesses to keep operating while residents can also rest and reach their homes safely.
Residents from Khar, Bandra and Santacruz gathered at New Creation Housing Society in Khar West on Saturday night.
They raised concerns about late-night noise, public nuisance, traffic congestion, honking, parking and blocked building access.
The planned peaceful walk was not permitted, so residents stayed at the society premises for their discussion.
Khar Senior Police Inspector Santosh Kate attended and, residents said, proposed a coordination group and a joint meeting with civic and traffic officials.
