Delhi HC advances hearing in Akbar's plea
A former minister and journalist, MJ Akbar, is not happy with a court's decision that said another journalist, Priya Ramani, did not do anything wrong when she talked about him in the #MeToo movement.
He thinks she hurt his reputation and wants the court to change its mind.
The court has decided to listen to his arguments earlier than planned, on March 16.
This case is important because it's about whether people can speak up about harassment without being sued.
Delhi High Court advances hearing of MJ Akbar's appeal against Priya Ramani's acquittal in a defamation case.
Akbar filed the defamation case in 2018 after Ramani accused him of sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement.
The trial court had acquitted Ramani, and Akbar is appealing this decision.
The hearing was originally scheduled for May 7 but has been moved to March 16.
Justice Ravinder Dudeja is presiding over the case, with Rajiv Nayar representing Akbar.
