GRSE Begins Construction of Hybrid Ferries for Hooghly River
Imagine new boats that will travel on the Hooghly River!
A company called GRSE is building 13 special boats that use both batteries and diesel to run, like a hybrid car.
These boats will replace the older ones that use only diesel.
They will go up and down the river in any weather, from north to south.
They will be safer, and cleaner than the old ones.
Some of the boats can hold 200 people and the others hold 100.
GRSE has started constructing 13 hybrid ferries for the Hooghly River.
The ferries will replace older diesel vessels and support green transport.
The contract for the ferries was signed on November 19, 2024.
The ferries will operate from Triveni to Diamond Harbour in all weather conditions.
The vessels will have hybrid electric propulsion systems using batteries and diesel.
