Andy Cohen Calls Out Paul W. Downs Over 'Hacks' Joke
Andy Cohen is a famous TV host who talks to celebrities on his show.
He was not happy about a joke that mentioned him on another show called Hacks.
Hacks is a TV series that just finished its fifth and final season.
In the joke, a character says she has turned down Andy Cohen more times than every twink on Fire Island.
Andy showed the joke on his live TV show and asked Paul W. Downs about it.
Paul helped create Hacks and also acts in it, so Andy said Paul was in charge.
Paul said the joke was not planned.
He said actress Jean Smart makes up lines while acting and they cannot stop her.
Hacks received 24 award nominations, a record for a comedy show in one year.
It was a funny moment on live television.
Andy Cohen called out Hacks co-creator and showrunner Paul W. Downs over a joke at his expense during Tuesday's episode of Watch What Happens Live.
The joke, delivered by Jean Smart's character in the fifth and final season, said she turned down Andy Cohen more than every twink on Fire Island.
Cohen played the clip and noted that Downs, as co-creator and showrunner, was 'in charge' at Hacks.
Downs defended the moment by saying Jean Smart is an improviser who 'improvises like crazy' and they can never rein her in.
Hacks concluded its five-season run in June and set an Emmy record with 24 nominations for Season 5, the most ever for a comedy series in a single year.
